Masala rice is a very delicious and wholesome recipe. This recipe is essentially a main course recipe and as such is very filling. Follow the directions given below for preparing this recipe at home.

Ingredients For Masala Rice

For The Paste

  • Chopped ginger- 1 tsp
  • chopped garlic- 1 tsp
  • chopped green capsicum- 1 tbsp

Other Ingredients

  • oil-2 tbsp
  • mustard seeds- ½ tsp
  • cumin seeds-  ½ tsp
  • bayleaf- 2
  • potato-1
  • onion-1
  • carrot- ½  
  • green peas- ½ cup
  • salt as per taste
  • Turmeric powder- just a pinch
  • garam masala- ½ tsp
  • coriander- cumin seeds- 1 tsp
  • chili powder as needed
  • rice- 2 cups

How To Make Masala Rice

  • Wash and clean rice.
  • Wash and clean vegetables and cut into long slices.
  • Take a pressure cooker and heat oil in it. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, ginger-garlic paste and green pepper.
  • Put in a bay leaf. Add in the vegetables, remaining masalas and salt. Fry it for about 3 minutes.
  • Mix well and add rice. Pour in the water and cook with the lid on till the rice is done. Should be about 3 whistles.
  • Take off the heat and wait till steam has come out and serve hot
