Ingredients For Turnip Pickle

  • Turnips-  1/2 kg
  • Mustard Oil- 1 cup  
  • Garlic- 15 cloves
  • Vinegar-  1 cup
  • Sugar-  1 cup
  • Dry Dates- 15
  • Raisins- 6 tsp
  • Peppercorn- 1 tsp
  • Chili powder- 2 tsp
  • Onions seeds- 1 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds- 1 tsp
  • Salt- 1/3 cup

How To Make Turnip Pickle

  • Take sugar, spices and grind them together.
  • Using vinegar blend the raisins and dates.
  • Wash and clean turnips before slicing them into thick round pieces.
  • Rub the turnips with salt and set it aside for 8 hours.
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry the garlic in it.
  • Add in the turnips and fry them till it becomes a bit dry.
  • Now add vinegar, ground spices-sugar and ground dates-raisins.
  • Transfer to a preserving/ pickle jar and keep under the sun for 5 days..
