Ingredients for Thulu chicken

  • Chicken-500g
  • red chilies-5
  • Grated coconut-1 cup
  • coconut milk-2 cups
  • cumin seeds-5g
  • black pepper seeds-5g
  • coriander seeds-5g
  • methi seeds-5g
  • garam masala-5g
  • Butter or ghee-60g
  • Chopped onions-50g
  • Garlic-5g
  • Lemons-2
  • Add Salt according to taste

How to make Thulu chicken

  • Firstly take a pan and heat 3 tbsp ghee in it and then fry some methi, black pepper, cumin, red chilies, grated coconut, coriander seeds in it and do this till it turns golden brown and mix them well to form a fine paste.
  • Now clean the chicken properly and divide it into pieces and season it in the prepared mixture with some salt for about 30mins.
  • Now take a pan and heat some ghee in it and then fry some chopped onions in it till they turn golden brown in color and then add small amount of garam masala in it.
  • Now finally add the chicken pieces in the mixture along with coconut milk and cook it till it’s done.
  • Now the dish is prepared and some lemon juice should be sprinkled on it before serving it.

Some Useful Tips

If you are thinking of preparing garlic, fresh chilli and ginger pastes at home, then make sure you add tablespoon of canola/hot vegetable/ sunflower cooking oil to the paste and mix it well this will ensure a longer life for the paste prepared. Refrigerate and use it as per your requirement.
