Sekwa Chara

Brief Description

Sekwa Chara is a very tasty recipe which can be prepared very easily. Follow this simple method to prepare Sekwa chara Recipe at home.

Serves 4

Ingredients for Sekwa Chara

  • 1kg chicken, broiler divided into 6 to 8 pieces


Grind Togethe

  • 2 Onions
  • 2 tsp Garlic
  • 1 tsp Ginger
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 tsp Coriander Seeds
  • Add salt according to Taste
  • 1/2 cup Yoghurt
  • 1 tsp of Garam Masala
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • No of medium sized pulped Tomatoes - 2
  • ½ cup of Mustard Oil
  • 1 cup Clarified Butter
  • 2 tsp of Lemon Juice

How to make Sekwa Chara

  • Firstly wash the chicken pieces properly.
  • Now make some light cuts using a sharp knife on each piece and pat the chicken pieces dry and keep it aside for some time.
  • Now start mixing all the ground spices, yoghurt, salt, tomato pulp (liquid discarded), dry spices, clarified butter and mustard oil altogether to prepare a mixture.
  • Now add chicken in the mixture and marinate it for about an hour.
  • Preheat a barbeque rack or gas tandoor by putting a coal underneath it.
  • Now start roasting all the chicken pieces and turn them frequently and then season it with the leftover marinade.
  • When process is completed make sure that the chicken is dry.
  • The dish is now prepared and can be  served hot.

Some Useful Tips

    If you are thinking of preparing garlic, fresh chilli and ginger pastes at home, then make sure you add tablespoon of canola/hot vegetable/ sunflower cooking oil to the paste and mix it well this will ensure a longer life for the paste prepared. Refrigerate and use it as per your requirement.
