Paper Wrapped Chicken
Paper wrapped chicken is a very yummy recipe which consists of seasoned chicken which is properly cooked and wrapped in a paper. It is a very popular banquet appetizer. Normally the paper wrapped chicken is deep-fried but it can also be prepared by baking it in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for about 15 minutes. Make sure you cool it slightly before serving it.

Ingredients for Paper Wrapped Chicken
- Skinless and boneless chicken breasts-2 pounds
- Soy sauce-3 tbsp
- Oyster sauce-3 tbsp
- Shredded ginger-1 slice
- Sesame oil-1 tbsp
- Sherry-1 tbsp
- Sugar-3 tsp
- Five spice powder-1/2 tsp
- Thinly sliced softened Chinese dried mushrooms -3 to 4
- Thinly sliced Green onions -3
- Coriander leaves or Cilantro- 24 sprigs
- No of 6-inch squares of aluminum foil, parchment paper used for cooking or cellophane paper -24
- For deep-frying use peanut oil
How to make Paper Wrapped Chicken
- Firstly make thin slices of the chicken and make a total of 48 slices just about two and a half inches long and pound it slightly on chicken’s backside to soften it.
- Now mix all the seasoned ingredients and add chicken in it and cover it and leave it to season in the fridge for about 45 minutes.
- Now add green onions and some mushrooms in it and marinate it again for about 15mins so that vegetables will soak all the marinade).
- Now we will learn how to wrap the chicken
- The packing of Paper-wrapped chicken is normally done in the pattern of envelope. To do this take a paper which is of square shape and put it in front of you.
- Now add 1 slice of mushroom, 2 chicken slices, coriander spring and 2 green onion slices in between and make sure the filling is done in center portion and not just near edges.
- Now put the bottom cover up over the chicken and fold right portion over toward the middle, and then left portion and make sure that one side is folded over one another.
- Now again fold the top cover down and wrap it in the inside part to properly tie the package. Just ensure that the packets are well packed up so that oil doesn’t gets in.
- Now start heating frying pan and deep fry it with some oil.
- Now when the oil is ready place nicely 6 packages at a time in it so that the pan don’t get congested
- Now the packets should be deep fried and stir it occasionally till the chicken gets properly cooked and do this for 3mins.
- Place it on oil absorbing towel so that it soaks all the oil and continue the procedure for the rest of the packets.
- The chicken packets are prepared and can be served on a large plate and use greens to garnish it with greens if required.
- One can open these packets with their fingers or by using chopsticks.

Some Useful Tips
• When you wrap the chicken meat in the paper make sure you add 1 teaspoon of sauce inside it.
• Just make sure the chicken prepared is wrapped well and the paper must be properly tucked in it so that oil doesn’t flow in and makes the dish too oily.
