Ingredients for Chicken Tikka Biryani

For Marination

  • 500g chicken
  • 2 tbsp yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp green paste
  • 2 tbsp tikka masala
  • 1 tbsp fried and crushed onions
  • 1 tsp crushed red chilies
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp oil

For Gravy

  • 4 tbsp oil             
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 4 tbsp yoghurt

For Rice

  • 500g rice
  • 1 cardamom
  • 1 tsp jeera
  • 4-5 cloves

How to make Chicken Tikka Biryani

  • Marinate the chicken in the mixture of marinating ingredients and leave for 2-3 hours. After that cook the chicken with whole marinated mixture on a tawa for 10-12 minutes.
  • Heat some oil for gravy. Add in the masalas, yoghurt and salt to taste. Once you see oil separating from the masala add chicken tikka pieces and cook for 4-5 minutes on medium flames.
  • Boil the rice with cardamom, jeera, cloves and salt. But once they are 80% done, drain the water out of them. Add the rice to chicken gravy and cover the lid and cook on very low flames for 15-20 minutes.
  • Chicken tikka biryani is ready to be served.

Some Useful Tips

    You can ensure the longevity of your ginger, garlic and chilies paste by adding a tsp of oil into it. That will increase the amount of time you can refrigerate the paste for.
