Gujarat is a state with diversity in cultures as well as history. The state was also known as “Varuna” and “Pratichya”.The Identity of the state in earlier history of India was as kutch ki ran, it means place with salty desert. Now days the state is recognized as a symbol of development. The symbol of growth in any ways and is sample for not only states of India but for world also. Capital of the state is gandhinagar, and Ahmedabad is the largest city. Gujarat shares its borders with Pakistan, especially to the sindh province at its northwest. The state shares its borders with Arabian Sea to the southwest. It also borders Rajasthan to the northeast, Madhya Pradesh to east and Maharashtra to the south.
The Gujarat is home to the Gujarati people, and the language spoken here is gujrati. It was also the home of Mahatma Gandhi and Vallabhbhai Patel, who preached unison between all religions and became a worldwide figure for peaceful struggle against dictatorship. Bhuj is a popular shopping destination for handicrafts and shares a common culture with Sindh province in Pakistan. Kutchi embroidery is one of the most famous craft made by artisans.
Gujarat has a total of 13 state universities and four agricultural universities. The leading management institute- Indian Institute of Management [IIM] located in Ahmedabad ranks the best in India and among the best management Universities in the world. Mudra Institute of Communications in Ahmedabad (MICA) is one of the most famous institutes for mass communication and is well-renowned across India. Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering (LDCE) is also one of the top engineering colleges of the state. The National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar is internationally acclaimed as one of the foremost multi-disciplinary institutions in the field of design education and research. Centre for Environmental Planning & Technology University, popularly known as (CEPT) is one of the best planning and architectural school not in India, but across the world; providing various technical and professional courses. The top-notch institute for Engineering and Research include IIT Gandhinagar is located in Gujarat.

Historically, the state of Gujarat has been one of the main centers of the Indus Valley Civilization.   Gujarat was in commercial ties and in trade with Egypt, Bahrain and Sumer in the Persian Gulf during the time period of 1000 to 750 BC.There was a succession of Hindu and Buddhist states such as the Mauryan Dynasty, Western Satraps, Satavahana dynasty, Gupta Empire, Chalukya dynasty, Rashtrakuta Empire, Pala Empire and Gurjara-Pratihara Empire as well as local dynasties such as the Maitrakas and then the Solankis. During 1ST century AD for about 300 years, Saka rulers played a prominent part in Gujarat's history. 

Gujarat is one of the most popular states in India for tourism. On an average a total of about 19.81 million tourists visit the state in a year. It offers numerous destinations to view scenic beauty of the Great Rann of Kutch to the hills of Saputara and which the sole home of pure Asiatic Lions in the world. During the historic reigns of the sultans, Hindu craftsmanship blended with Islamic architecture, giving rise to the Indo-Saracenic style. Many structures in the state are built in this fashion. Religious sites play a major part in the tourism of Gujarat. Somnath is the first amongst twelve Jyotirlingas, and is mentioned in the Rigveda.  Amitabh Bacchan is currently the brand ambassador of Gujarat tourism.
